36 firefighters reported missing, 9 killed in Tianjin blasts

Tianjin's fire department says 36 firefighters are missing and 33 injured in the twin explosions that have rocked the city.

Meanwhile, our
reporter at the site reports 9 firefighters are among 17 people killed. At least 400 are reported injured. The Beijing fire department has sent two drones and eight firefighters to the site to help fight the blaze.

Two blasts occured just 30 seconds apart, after a shipment of explosives detonated in an industrial zone on Wednesday night. Plumes of smoke reached into the sky over dozens of meters high. The blast wave was felt in surrounding areas, much of which are under construction residential and office buildings.
