Trump tweets threats to North Korea after UN meeting

President Donald Trump at the White House in Washington, September 12, 2017.

U.S. President Donald Trump twitted on Saturday that North Korea's Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho and leader Kim Jong Un "won't be around much longer" if Ri echoed the thoughts of "Little Rocket Man," an apparent reference to Kim.

Ri informed the United Nations General Assembly holding in New York earlier on Saturday that hitting the U.S. mainland with its rockets was inevitable after "Mr Evil President" Trump insulted the Pyongyang's leader by calling him "rocket man."

"Just heard Foreign Minister of North Korea speak at U.N. If he echoes thoughts of Little Rocket Man, they won't be around much longer!" Trump tweeted.

Trump and Kim have traded threats and counter threats and personal insults as North Korea pushes forward with its numerous nuclear tests.
Just heard Foreign Minister of North Korea speak at U.N. If he echoes thoughts of Little Rocket Man, they won't be around much longer!

In an unprecedented direct statement or rather insult on Friday, Kim described Trump as a "mentally deranged U.S. dotard" whom he would tame with fire. His comments came after Trump threatened had threatened in his maiden U.N. address on Thursday to "totally destroy" the country of 26 million people.

It was not clear from Trump's latest tweet if he was referring to Ri and Kim, or North Korea more broadly.
