US, Nigerian Troops killed in Ambush in Niger

A dispatch of United State's and their Nigerian Counterparts were killed in an Ambush in Niger Sources say.

Nigeria has been fighting Boko Haram terrorist group in this area

Report says three US soldiers were killed in the ambush with one other soldier from a partner country.

However details was not given on the identity of the fourth soldier.

The US soldiers had been providing advice and assistance in Niger's counter-terror operations and come under "hostile fire", it said.

Islamist militants, including al-Qaeda fighters, operate in the region.

They are most active in neighbouring Mali, where French troops intervened in 2013 to prevent them from advancing on the capital.

The Boko Haram group, based in Nigeria to the south, has also staged several attacks in Niger.

And US have been partnering Nigeria in its quest to route Boko Haram from its territory.
