The Senate on Thursday October 22, 2015 asked former Rivers State governor; Rt Honorable Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi 'to take a bow' signifying his confirmation as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
This came after series of question asked by APC Senators asn PDP Senators did not ask any question. In response to one the questions Amaechi said he has never taken bribe in his life.
The embattled ex-governor met stiff opposition from his home Senators who tendered a petition against. The case was referred to and heard by Ethics committee of the Senate. It was the norm of the Senate to ask a nominee minister to get two Senators from his state to endorse him. The Senate waived this tradition last week because of the type of opposition PDP has been playing against the person of Amaechi.
