Ghana to recruit Cuban doctors

Empty benches Ghana plans to bring in 177 doctors from Cuba to work at state hospitals hit by a strike by doctors, Health Minister Alex Segbefia has
said at a press conference.
The government would also retain those Cuban doctors whose contracts had expired, he added.
Negotiations between the government and the doctors have broken down.

The government says it will resume talks only when the doctors return to work.
The strike, which started early this month, has mainly affected teaching hospitals.
It has put enormous pressure on military and police hospitals which are treating emergency
