As part of efforts in ensuring total peace and tranquility in the liberated villages and towns in the north-eastern part of the country by the Nigerian military, where Boko Haram had wreaked havoc, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has concluded arrangements to deploy about 5000 of its operatives to the area.
Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, made the disclosure on Tuesday in Abuja when he visited the headquarters of the corps as part of his tour of agencies under the ministry.
Dambazau, who was commenting on the efforts of the agency to national security, also said a lot is still expected of them.
"I am happy that you will soon deploy five thousand of your personnel as part of your effort to those areas that have been freed. You have come a long way and a lot is expected of you. This is the time that the country needs you most, especially in the areas of peace building in the north-east to stabilise the areas that have been freed by the Nigerian army."
The minister charged the NSCDC to rededicate themselves to training "so as to perfect your responsibilities, though I have no doubt that you are capable."
While assuring the leadership of the corps on welfare of its personnel, Dambazau drew the Corps attention, saying "I want to draw your attention to the fact that this government is government that is emphasising transparency and accountability, so there should be no waste," he said.
