SALT LAKE: Authorities say six people are dead and seven others missing after a
flash flood ripped through a town on the Utah-Arizona border Monday
night.
The Utah Division of Emergency Management says in a Facebook post
that heavy rains caused the flash flooding at about 5 p.m. Monday in
Hildale, Utah. A large wave of water smashed two vehicles full of
people, washing the cars and occupants downstream.
Utah officials say they've confirmed six people are dead. They say seven others are missing. Three survivors have been found.
Hildale and its sister city of Colorado City, Arizona, are the home
base of a polygamous sect run by Warren Jeffs. The towns are about 315
miles south of Salt Lake City.
